武大是211綜合類院校，而且綜合排名全國高校第七、八左右，首先綜合實力不必說。
如果要去綜合類大學學習外語，武大的語言類學院（包括外國語學院）挺強的，在全國排前面，特別是新聞學很強，全國前五。
就你說的英語專業也有博士點，而且和國外一些著名高校有合作交流的建設項目，資源很好，只要充分利用。

武漢大學外國語言文學學院是我國中部地區綜合性大學中外語學科門類最為齊全的外語學院之一，有武漢大學人文社會科學重點研究基地「法國問題研究中心」和「法語國家研究中心」。還擁有全國唯一研究法國經濟、政治、法律、文學、文化等情況的、面對國內外公開發行的《法國研究》學術雜志。
1簡介
武漢大學外國語言文學學院位於湖北省武漢市武昌區珞珈山，學院有著悠久的歷史和光榮的傳統，其院史可追溯至1893年創辦的「自強學堂」和 1902年建立的「方言學堂」。許多著名專家學者和革命家，如陳潭秋、朱光潛、葉君健等曾在此執教或學習。1952年院系調整後，設立俄文系，並於 1958年正式更名為外文系，設俄、英語兩個本科專業。1972年又增設法、德、日語等三個專業。如今的外語學院成立於1990年，是全國重點綜合性大學中的第一所。2000年新武漢大學成立後，原武漢水利電力大學、武漢測繪科技大學、湖北醫科大學的相關專業融入其中，使外語學院在學術水平、師資力量、圖書資料、教學設備等方面得到了進一步充實與發展。
2師資力量
學院師資力量雄厚，並有良好的科學研究和學術交流條件，是我國外國語言文學教學、科研和高層次人才培養的重要基地之一。學院下設英文系、法文系、日文系、德文系、俄文系、翻譯系、大學英語教學部六系一部。英、俄、日、德、法、翻譯等專業共有教師103人，其中教授30人、副教授38人；80%以上的任課教師具有在國外留學或工作的經歷；學院常年聘請外籍教師授課；學院還與美、英、法、德、俄、日等國的十餘所大學互換交流生，每年派往世界各地學習的學生百餘名。
3機構設置
外國語言文學學院系、部設置：
外語學院現設有英文系、法文系、日文系、德文系、俄文系、大學英語教學部等五六系一部，英、俄、德、法、日等五個專業，分別設有五個不同語種的語言文學碩士點，一個外國語言學與應用語言學碩士點，以及法語語言文學（文化）博士點，俄語語言文學博士點，英語語言文學博士點，德語語言文學博士點及翻譯學博士點，面向全國招收大學本科生和碩士、博士研究生。現有本科學生904人、碩士生278人、博士生15人。
英文系：
現有教師46人，其中教授10人，副教授23人，本科學生483人，研究生85人，英國語言文學專業面向全國招收本科學生和碩士研究生。
本專業學生主要學習英語語言、文學、歷史、政治、經濟、法律、新聞、外交、社會文化等方面的基礎理論和知識，尤其強調英語聽、說、讀、寫、譯等方面良好的技能訓練，掌握一定的科研方法，培養具有扎實的英語語言基本功和較全面的文學文化知識，能勝任專門研究或從事高校英語教學的專業人才；或具有扎實的英語語言基本功和一定的文學文化知識，同時具有另一門學科知識與技能的主輔修或雙學位的復合型人才；或具有兩種或兩種以上外語技能和知識的雙語高級翻譯人才。
